Furniture Finishing & RestorationWelcome to the Furniture Finishing Wizard!"Home"
The Furniture Finishing & Restoration "Wizard" is your #1 resource for information on finishing wood furniture, cabinetry, and woodwork. Click on the links in the left column for articles on different topics about finishing. One of the most important tips you should follow is to always do a sample, the larger the better, of every finish you try for the first time. Small samples can look deceivingly good, so it's important to experiment on as large a surface as you can. If you have no other options, use the back of a door, the bottom of a shelf, or the bottom of a table to try the finish. Do the entire finish, from start to end, on the sample to make sure you like the results and don't run into any problems. Whenever you see blue words in a paragragh, you can click on the link to go to the related info. For example, here's a link to an article by Bob Flexner - Finishing for First-Timers. If you can't find the answers to your questions about finishing, you can get help from the on-line Question and Answer (Q&A) forum; just click on the link in the left column. If you have a refinishing project to do, there's a link in the left column to the Refinishing Wizard ("Refinishing Wiz") for restoration and refinishing projects. I hope the site is a great help to you and you're able to get a great looking finish on your project(s)! Paul Snyder
